While it may seem small, the ripple effects of small things are extraordinary.

Any work we do will have an impact. The size & scale are variables that keep on changing from task to task. But we are contributing to the greater good irrespective of the size of the contribution.

Listen to Volunteer firefighter Mark Bezos tells a story of an act of heroism that didn’t go quite as expected.

My personal Story

So, I am a full-time employee in a volunteer organization. I wanted to work in the social sector because I loved the rush and how it made me feel when I work with kids or when I help someone.

But, The work I do is purely backend. I manage the Tech and Communication part of the organization. That involves website editing, designing, video editing, form creations, etc.

A few months back some of my colleagues did an awesome event for underprivileged kids and I was so happy. And at the same time, I missed doing those things. when I was a volunteer I used to do activities where I directly interact with the beneficiaries.

Later that day I went for a walk and started asking myself some questions.

Does the work I do have any impact on society?

And the answer was yes, I might not have the time to do an awesome event but with the work I do, I support literally all the events that happen in the organization. That made me feel good. And I will continue doing the same :)
